Orrdle is a set of free NHL guessing games. This page explains what happens to data when you play.
What we store on your device
Your guesses, statistics, streaks and settings (dark mode, hard mode, game modes) are saved in your browser's local storage. They never leave your device, we cannot read them, and clearing your browser data erases them permanently. We do not have accounts, and we never ask for your name, email address or any other personal detail.
Orrdle can be installed as an app and played offline. That works by caching the site's own files - the games, the logos and the player data - in your browser. It is the same storage, on your device.
Daily results
When you finish a daily puzzle we send one thing to our own server: which puzzle it was and how it went (the number of guesses, or that it was not solved). That is what powers the "how everyone else did" comparison. The message carries no name, no account and no identifier of any kind - it increments a counter and nothing more, so results cannot be traced back to a player, not even by us. Arcade, Unlimited and Retro games are never sent.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics, loaded through Google Tag Manager, to see how many people play and which games they use. It records information such as pages visited, approximate location, browser and device type. We use it in aggregate only - it is not used to identify individual players. See Google's privacy policy and how Google uses data from sites that use its services.
Advertising
Orrdle does not currently show advertising. If that changes, the site will serve ads through Google AdSense, and this section applies from that point on.
Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visit to Orrdle and other sites. You can opt out of personalized advertising at Google Ads Settings, or opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalized advertising at aboutads.info. More detail is in Google's advertising policy.
Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland are asked for consent before personalized ads are shown, and visitors in California can opt out of the sale or sharing of their personal information. Both prompts are handled by Google's consent management platform.
Hockey data
Player and team information, photographs and logos come from the public NHL API. Requests are relayed through our own proxy, so the NHL never receives your IP address directly. Orrdle is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by the National Hockey League or any NHL team - see the terms of use.
Other services
Fonts are served from Orrdle itself, so no font provider sees your visit. The footer links out to Ko-fi and to GM Connected; both are separate sites with their own privacy policies.
Children
Orrdle is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top of the page changes with it.
